”The distance between you and me”

Terracotta, clay and found tree branches assembled by Sarban Chowdhury during the 8th Episode of Uronto Residential Art Exchange Program at Dubolhati, Noagaon, Rajshahi, BD.

A tree branch reaching out to a tree trunk that doesn’t belong to its own through stories that doesn’t fall into place. A similarity that resembles the story of the fake descendants of the royal family of the Dubolhati Palace.

Sarban Chowdhury from India, started his practice initially with stoneware, terracotta and porcelain, but gradually shifted his interest from clay and exploring wider possible medium. He wants his work to exist not as the ubiquitous “art object” but as something more enigmatic – foreign yet familiar, handmade yet somehow organic.
