Nostalgia

Mix-media work by Ritwik Kar at the 6th episode of Uronto Residential Art Exchange Program at Sunamganj, BD.

The concept of home keeps recurring to mind as artist Ritwik Kar visited the Gourarang rajbari of Sunamganj in Bangladesh. The question arises that is home a concept, a destination, a memory or is it just a mere building? As we migrate from one home to the other, from one place to a distant land we hold back to only our memories. Do we inhabit in a home or does the home also inhabits within us? Times have changed, people have died but the home has inhabited within its then inhabitants in the form of mere memories.

Ritwik Kar completed his post-graduation from Government College of Art and Craft, Calcutta and continued his artistic journey experimenting various mediums in his work. Through his works, he intends to restore a different documentation of time and society. Being a member of migrant family, he involves his practical experiences that he explores through his family, neighbor, ancestors observing the layers of cultural and ritual practices which evolves along with migration history.

This is among the three more works that the artist did during the programme.

Other works by Ritwik Kar : will be uploaded soon.
