13 Feb The ownership
A public art intervention by Abhimanyu Dalui during the 7th episode of Uronto residential art exchange program at Sunamganj, BD.
Cultural cleansing of historically rich regions is one of the most devastating actions taken in any contemporary civilized society where culture and history are intrinsic to the social fabric of society. Radicalism can lead to the eradication of history, that history whose traces reveal the cultural identity of the place and the symbols of power. In this work Abhimanyu Dalui is creating the large marks of ownership as the previous landlords and then the smaller marks of the current owners within the closed circled social boundary.
Abhimanyu Dalui is a mix-media artist. Starting from academic course and the traditional mediums he shifted to layering process in his work while exploring dialogue of daily and busy life of everyday people. Then he focused on certain marginalized community in the society in his work where he experiments with the different code of power, position and placement through conscious disruptions on the surface of his work.
