05 Feb The Jail in THE Temple
A metaphoric installation by Uronto collective at the second episode of Uronto residential art exchange program in Nikli, Kishoreganj, BD.
This work was part of the visual making process of the stories that artist were exploring at the 150 years old building known as Doyal Kuthir at Nikli, Kishoreganj. Many of the stories were related with the liberation war of Bangladesh, narratives of how many families had the escape from their own land and how they were tortured by military people etc. Doyal Kuthir was first occupied by Pakistani military and they announces the house as a Madrasa, then later on freedom fighters re-occupied the space and they made the temple of the house as a temporary jail to keep the Pakistani militaries locked up there.
This attempt of using the temple as a jail was particularly the story behind the visual of this work. The work was done collectively by the participating artists in the second episode.
