01 Feb The Crown
The second Photo-series by Elodie Guignard In Dubolhati Palace in Naogaon.
She heard many stories about the Raja(king) but haven’t heard anything of the Rani(queen). wondering who the queen was, who were the women who lived in this palace. She went into the village to meet those who live near this area, spent time talking, observing. Asked women to pose for her like queen and a proud soul, young ones and elder ones. She photographed fragments, pieces of nature and palaces and imagined her stories, stories of women, stories of queens, of yesterday and today.
This series is an encounter with a place and people who live near there. It is a way of looking at an extraordinary place, a deambulation in ruins where time is in suspension…
The final display was done in the open area of the palace accommodating the images in the flat clay pots and was linked with her other work through light protection.
Elodie comes from France, with a study background in Photography. She has developed a style of photographic research on human being, body, territory and the way people interact with spaces they are living in. Her work questions the feminine, the relationship with nature, the links that women have with a territory. Elodie is represented by the Hans Lucas agency in Paris.
