09 Feb Protect the Last Pieces
Indian Artist Mansi Trivedi came all the way to Shatkhira in the Third Episode of URONTO at Kalinanda Chattopadhayay’s House. The palace is almost 400 years old and only few walls and roofless rooms are standing on their last legs in present time. In every Episode Artists are encouraged to work with local traditional materials. In this work Mansi used the local fish net for her work which is very much available in an area like Shatkhira where fish business is a big business and all the materials related with fishing is very local and traditional there. Fishing is a common profession int hat area.
Trivedi colored the locally collected nets in to Red to create an alarming situation at the site also expressing that the house is in an alarming stage also she wanted to protect the fragile area with netting them around like people protect fruits on tree with net .
Trivedi created a collage painting also with the used materials form her installation. Being a print maker she works with Collagraph also she does collage works and she continued doing that here also as an extra outcome from her work – Protecting the Last pieces.
