10 Feb OPEN CALL for Multidisciplinary Artists and creative practitioners.
Project: Unlearning the Book (Reimagining “Book / বই” through Textile, Story, and Living Archives)
Are you an artist or a creative practitioner who wants to experiment with up-cycled textile as a language, and rethink what a book or বই can be beyond paper, pages, and binding? Are you curious about stories that are stitched, folded, wrapped, worn, or performed, rather than simply read?
‘Unlearning the Book’ is a process-based collective project that invites multidisciplinary artists to step away from conventional ideas of books and explore them as living, tactile, and relational forms. The project draws inspiration from the ancient history of Book, storytelling traditions, cultural memory, Puthi practices, and knowledge sharing while encouraging creative, contemporary, experimental approaches to making.
Participants will explore how upcycled textile can become page, structure, and narrative, and how stories rooted in cultural memory, heritage, and lived experience can be transformed into experimental book-forms. The focus is not on producing a perfect book, but on unlearning, questioning, and re-imagining together.
The project will culminate in a public exhibition in Dhaka and in galleries and cultural spaces abroad, extending the life of the project beyond its initial making period.
